A fair platform on which lasting visibility does not depend on the advertising budget.

Hello, my name is Thomas Janetzki. I live in Germany and have an MBA.
I am the person behind the Golden Record Project and have been involved in online marketing for more than 20 years - as someone who has used it himself, observed it and noticed it time and time again: Somehow the whole thing is developing in a, shall we say, strange direction.

This page is my attempt to briefly tell you why I started the Golden Record Project, what it's all about - and why it might be relevant for you too.

As a marketing and sales manager, I have been involved with online presence for many years and am still working on it: How do you make small projects visible? How do you get to the top of Google? How do you advertise without burning through your budget?

I have tried and used Google Ads for more than 20 years. Facebook and Instagram advertising. Contacted and worked with SEO agencies, from the very small to the very large. Observed marketplaces. And I realized the following: there are many ways for large companies. But for small projects, for individuals, for self-employed people with a manageable budget? The digital world has become an unfair game.
What was still affordable in 2010 (or even a few years ago) is often unaffordable today. What used to run organically is now being stifled by algorithms. And while the advertising groups earn more every year, the small providers are becoming increasingly invisible.

There was a moment when I realized: Things can’t stay the way they are. I sat in front of a dashboard and saw how several thousand advertising budget had been burnt within 10 days – for a few hundred clicks and, above all, in some months around 1-2 leads. And that was both when I did it alone and with the small and large agencies mentioned above (who really specialize in this): The same result. The website didn’t suddenly get better. My offer didn’t suddenly become more attractive. But the platform got its money.

In the same period, I saw and still see small artists, musicians and freelancers whose work is impressive – and who nevertheless remain digitally invisible. Not because they are bad. But because they couldn’t afford these games (anymore) or didn’t want to. (If you want to know exactly what I mean, please read this page here ). That’s when I started thinking: What if there was another way? One where it’s not the budget that decides who gets seen, but a simple, fair rule: everyone gets the same chance.

The Golden Record Project is a platform on which every project – whether musician, small workshop, self-employed person or artist – becomes permanently visible for a one-off fee of €4.99. No monthly fees. No monthly fees. No click costs. No sales commissions.

Each entry appears on three levels: in a rotating display of 100 fields, in a categorized marketing guide eBook, and in a virtual reality space. A single decision. A one-time investment. Lifelong visibility.

The name Golden Record Project is no coincidence: in 1977, NASA sent a golden record into space on the Voyager mission – as a message from humanity, without any claim to wealth or power, simply as a sign: We are here. We exist. This is precisely the idea behind the project. Every registered project says: “I am here too. I also deserve to be found.”

What really matters to me:

  • Fair opportunities instead of algorithmic favoritism. When three corporations decide who is visible on the internet, it’s no longer a market – it’s a stage with only one bouncer. Quite apart from the fact that the rapidly growing number of AI queries, which usually only name a few sources and, if they do, then usually a few larger providers, are even significantly reducing the number of clicks on the websites themselves on Google.

  • Consistency instead of flash in the pan. Anyone who places an ad will be gone tomorrow if they don’t recharge their budget. Those who are registered here stay. That is a different understanding of value.

  • Discovery instead of a filter bubble. The internet should be a place of discovery – not of reunion. Here you can also see projects that no algorithm would “recommend” to you.

  • Affordability for all. 4.99 is not an oversight, but a statement. A café latte. An audio book. Lifelong visibility for your project.

I want to be honest: The Golden Record Project is not a magic bullet.

It does not replace your website. It does not replace your social media presence. It’s not a guarantee of sales or new customers. What it is: An additional, fair visibility channel that works permanently and costs you nothing once you’re on board.

If you are looking for a platform that promises you sales with aggressive performance marketing – this is not the right place. But if you are someone who understands that visibility takes time, that digital growth is not a sprint, and that fairness is sometimes worth more than short-term impact – then this project is for you.

If you have read this far: Thank you. That means you are interested in this idea. Maybe you have a project yourself that you want to make more visible. Perhaps you are simply curious about what is being created here. Maybe you have questions or suggestions, etc..

In any case, I look forward to you taking the next step – be it an entry for your own project or simply a message to me. You can reach me at info@goldenrecordproject.com. I will reply personally.

Until then – feel free to look around.

Thomas
